Tech giant X, formerly known as Twitter, made a significant announcement on Friday about its Ads Revenue program for creators. The company has decided to reduce the minimum amount of impressions needed to qualify for ad revenue sharing. This update aims to allow even more people to monetize their content on the platform.

Lowered Eligibility Threshold

Previously, Twitter required users to have a minimum of 15 million impressions within three months to qualify for ad revenue sharing. However, in a tweet from its official handle, X revealed that they have now lowered the eligibility threshold to 5 million impressions within the last three months. This means that creators who generate a substantial amount of engagement on their posts can now have the opportunity to earn revenue from their content.

Reduced Minimum Payout Threshold

In addition to lowering the eligibility threshold, X has also reduced the minimum payout threshold for creators. Previously, the minimum payout threshold was set at $50. However, the company has now decreased it to $10. This means that creators can receive their earnings sooner and in smaller increments.

Free X Premium for High-Engagement Accounts

Furthermore, X Premium, also known as Twitter Blue, has become free for accounts that generate above 5 million views. This strategic move is aimed at incentivizing creators to strive for higher engagement and reach on their content. However, it is crucial to note that only views from verified handles will count towards this threshold. This measure is necessary to prevent scammers from using bots to spam views artificially.

Elon Musk’s Insights

Elon Musk, a prominent figure in the tech industry, shared additional information regarding the new update. In a tweet, Musk acknowledged that the update makes X Premium free for accounts with over 5 million views. He also highlighted the importance of counting only views from verified handles to maintain the authenticity of engagement metrics.

Tech Giant X has taken a significant step towards democratizing its Ads Revenue program for creators. By reducing the eligibility threshold from 15 million to 5 million impressions within three months, and lowering the minimum payout threshold from $50 to $10, X aims to enable more creators to monetize their content. Additionally, the decision to make X Premium free for high-engagement accounts further encourages creators to strive for higher viewership. With these updates, X is positioning itself as a more accessible platform for creators, opening up new opportunities for content monetization.
