Baldur’s Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, recently released its first patch, which addressed over a thousand bugs in the game. However, Larian is not stopping there. In a recent post on Steam, the studio outlined their plans for future updates, promising performance improvements, a new Karlach epilogue, and additional bug fixes. This article will delve into Larian’s plans and discuss the impact these updates will have on Baldur’s Gate 3.

Enhancing Performance

Larian acknowledges that Act 3 of the game has encountered performance issues. While Patch 2 brings significant performance improvements to the entire game, it will specifically target Act 3 to provide the most noticeable enhancements. By addressing these performance concerns, Larian aims to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience for players.

The studio acknowledges the frustration players have expressed regarding bugs that affect the Act 3 section of the game. Larian reassures players that they are equally frustrated and committed to resolving these issues. Patch 2 aims to eliminate major bugs, especially those present in Act 3. By doing so, Larian hopes to provide a more polished and immersive gameplay experience.

The “Cut Content” Concerns

Larian acknowledges that some players have referred to certain aspects of the game as “cut content.” However, the studio clarifies that not all instances are a result of content actually being cut. In some cases, content fails to trigger due to bugs, which Larian is actively working to fix. Additionally, there were features in the epilogue that Larian chose to remove because they felt it did not meet their desired quality.

While Larian trimmed the epilogue due to concerns about lengthy cinematics, they understand that not everyone agrees with this decision. To address this feedback, Larian plans to expand the epilogues with Patch 2. The first addition will be an optional ending for Karlach, promising an intense and emotionally charged conclusion that does justice to her character.

In response to player requests, Larian is developing a feature that allows players to remove co-op party members who join their campaign. This addition will provide players with more control and customization options during their gameplay experience. Furthermore, Larian is also working on a way for players to change their characters’ appearance after starting a campaign, although a specific release date for this feature has yet to be announced.

Larian Studios is dedicated to improving the Baldur’s Gate 3 experience for players. Their plans for future updates, including performance enhancements, bug fixes, expanded epilogues, and additional features, demonstrate their commitment to the game’s ongoing development. With these updates, players can look forward to an even more polished and immersive gameplay experience in Baldur’s Gate 3.
